A fantastic range of Scottish food and drink products will be exhibited at this year’s Gulfood expo. The presence of the Scottish Pavilion at the 2018 show marks a new push in the region for the British nation.
Popular exports from the country include PGI protected beef and lamb, seafood from MSC fisheries, shortbread, oatcakes and traditional Scottish beverages.
Scotland currently exports food and drink products to more than 200 countries worldwide. The country has the largest number of MSC accredited fisheries in Europe, and exports Scottish premium beverages at the rate of 40 bottles every second.
Exports of products such as shortbread and oatcakes are also growing in popularity. According to a spokesperson from the stand, the country’s “stable climate provides perfect growing conditions” for the products, “with many companies using family recipes that have been passed down for generations.”
Scottish products are currently stocked in retailers such as Fortnum & Mason and Harrods; Michelin starred restaurants including Bacchanalia in Singapore & L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Hong Kong and the five-star hotel groups such as the Peninsula, Shangri-La & Hyatt.
