Reif Japanese Kushiyaki, a top Japanese restaurant by the culinary genius Reif Othman and his team, celebrates its second anniversary this month alongside the launch of a new outlet in Dubai.

Walk into a setting featuring clean lines and stylish, exposed concrete and wood; while a 3D wall panel showcases Japanese geisha slippers and a corner lounge mimics an at-home living room. Custom-made shelves house chef-owner Reif Othman’s childhood comic Astro Boy, alongside his favourite cookbooks. The ambience also boasts an open kitchen, together with an impressive cake display.

Diners can make their way to the new restaurant, sited just opposite the flagship at Dar Wasl Mall and tuck into an à la carte lunch or dinner, before treating themselves to a selection of tempting cakes including Reif’s insta-famous ‘toilet roll’ lemon and yuzu cake.

Mark your calendars for later this month, as a scrumptious new breakfast menu launches then; and will run only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Asagohan, the Japanese-style morning meal, or breakfast offers a mix of sweet and savoury Far-Eastern gastronomy, together with European classics and freshly-baked bread, with Reif’s signature twist shining through.

Look forward to delights such Homemade black sesame and cream cheese monkey bread; a Reif Benedict with yuzu kosho hollandaise, sautéed kale and a choice of yuzu avocado or shisho-cured salmon; the much-loved Sando, but this time with tamago and tonkatsu sauce; Nasi Lemak with coconut rice, fried egg, sambal, anchovies and a choice of fried wings, turmeric fish or soft shell crab; Galette with matcha, lotus and strawberry; and more. The restaurant has a special, separate menu for kids too.

The new restaurant now makes it possible to seat 46 diners indoors, across the two spaces; with more covers to be added outdoors as the weather gets better. Diners can rest assured of gabbing a spot when the craving for unconventional Japanese cuisine strikes.
