Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road and Bur Dubai announce new sustainability initiatives to significantly reduce waste, energy consumption, and carbon emissions.
Since May 2023, Four Points Sheikh Zayed Road has eliminated food waste disposal in landfills by using a state-of-the-art food digester, reducing CO2 emissions by 60 tonnes. The hotel has also established a 300 m² rooftop garden, yielding 1,950 kg of vegetables last season, all used in the hotel kitchen, cutting emissions associated with food importation. Additionally, a solar thermodynamic hot water system has replaced traditional electric calorifiers, providing hot water sustainably and reducing the hotel’s carbon footprint.
Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai focuses on community-oriented sustainability initiatives. These include clutter-free meetings to reduce waste, clothes donation drives, charity biking events, and eco-friendly transportation promotions. Special initiatives during Ramadan support local and environmental causes, and the hotel participates in blood donation drives and Earth Hour events. Linen reuse, glass and plastic recycling, and soap donations to non-profits are also integral to their efforts.
In pursuit of energy efficiency, Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai has upgraded its dishwashers and replaced the primary chiller with an energy-efficient model. The new chiller has saved 67,431 kWh in the first quarter alone, while the high-efficiency dishwasher reduces water, energy, and detergent use, promoting a greener future.
Both hotels are committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences while prioritising sustainability. Their efforts have earned Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai the Green Globe Certification, while Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed has maintained Gold Certification for five consecutive years.
