Premium Japanese fruits are making waves in the Middle Eastern market, with a two-day showcase event held in Abu Dhabi on November 19-20 highlighting the likes of strawberries, apples, and melons. Organised by the Japan Fruits and Vegetables Export Promotion Council (J-FEC), this marked the initiative’s fourth outing in the UAE and its debut in the capital.
Participating producers from regions such as Hokkaido, Tokyo, Okayama, Kumamoto, and Miyazaki introduced their prized produce to local chefs, buyers, and residents. The event was divided into a trade fair aimed at fostering business connections and consumer-focused activities, giving attendees the chance to sample the fruits.
The quality and flavour of Japanese fruits left a strong impression on attendees. Abu Dhabi chef Rajesh singled out Nagano apples for their unmatched sweetness and adaptability in various dishes. J-FEC Chairman Yoshihisa Hishinuma expressed optimism that the event would not only broaden awareness of Japanese produce but also inspire new trade opportunities in the region.
With their reputation for superior taste and presentation, Japanese fruits appear poised to gain a growing foothold in Middle Eastern markets.
