DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai – Business Bay is at the forefront of environmental responsibility and sustainable practices, dedicated to both enhancing guest experiences and making a positive impact on the planet
The hotel has introduced several measures to reduce plastic use, including replacing plastic bottles with glass alternatives, using paper straws, and offering eco-friendly amenities like pencils with embedded seeds in meeting rooms. Additionally, it has set up an on-site water bottling plant to eliminate plastic waste, in alignment with the Dubai Can initiative.
Sustainability champions from the hotel have been actively involved in desert clean-ups and tree-planting initiatives. The team previously collaborated with Dubai Municipality on a major clean-up in the Al Quoz area and worked with Emirates Wildlife Society-WWF during Earth Week 2024 to restore Wadi Al Shees in Sharjah. They also led a beautification project in Al Qudra Desert during Earth Week 2023.
Recently, the hotel has partnered with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) to combat desertification and soil depletion. This collaboration involves collecting and recycling paper, aiming to process at least 1,000 kg to support afforestation efforts. This project is in line with the UAE’s “Year of Sustainability” initiative, reflecting the hotel’s commitment to its sustainability goals.
Further demonstrating its dedication to environmental conservation, DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai – Business Bay has planted 100 mangrove saplings, known for their ability to store more carbon than any other ecosystem, and adopted e-registration via iPads to reduce paper usage. QR codes are also used throughout the hotel to minimise paper consumption.
The hotel’s energy conservation efforts include installing 57.24 kWp solar PV panels on its rooftop, generating around 8,400 kWh of energy monthly. Waste reduction initiatives are supported by advanced technology such as the Winnow food waste reduction system and offsite composting. The hotel’s “No Bin” days in the staff cafeteria, the Clean Plate Challenge, and the Fresh On Table initiative, which focuses on locally sourced ingredients, further highlight its commitment to reducing waste.
