Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort announces the return of the highly anticipated Al Jabal Al Akhdar Olive Harvest Festival, scheduled for 26 to 28 September 2024
Nestled on the Green Mountain, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort benefits from a unique Mediterranean-style climate, a rarity in Oman and the Middle East, which supports the cultivation of a wide range of fruits and vegetables. This distinctive environment has fostered the growth of the olive, leading to a flourishing local olive oil industry. The tradition of olive cultivation in the region began when the former King of Spain gifted olive trees during a visit to Oman, sparking the growth of this now-treasured crop.
Now in its third year, this celebration of the region’s abundant olive harvest promises an engaging and memorable experience, featuring storytelling, olive oil pressing, exciting competitions, children’s activities, and culinary demonstrations led by esteemed chefs Martin Aristondo and Riccardo Passoni.
The festival will also welcome Mr. Jorge Marcelo Robles, a distinguished expert in Italian olive oil production, who will share the traditions of Italian extra virgin olive oil and provide valuable insights into preserving its superior quality. To celebrate the season with an Italian flair, Bella Vista will feature his exceptional olive oil in a specially curated set menu by Chef Passoni.
Throughout September, Bella Vista restaurant will offer a special set menu inspired by the olive harvest, incorporating local olives and olive oil. For those seeking relaxation, the Anantara Spa will feature an olive scrub treatment that harnesses the nourishing properties of olive oil, enhancing the overall wellness experience.
